Sustainable fishing guarantees there will be populations of ocean and freshwater wildlife for the future. LHC fisheries are certified by internationally recognized Seafood Sustainability programs or standards, such as Ocean Wise, Fish Wise, SeaChoice, MSC (Marine Stewardship Council), etc.
Ocean Wise, for example, states clearly four criteria:
1) The seafood must be abundant and resilient to fishing pressure.
2) It must be well-managed.
3) The fishery must cause minimal habitat damage.
4) There must be little bycatch.

This species is raised in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Waste water is treated before being recirculated through the tanks, so that no effluent is released to the environment. No antibiotics are used.
This tuna is caught by pole and line from the Pacific Ocean. This is a sustainable method of fishing as it is selective for tuna, and any bycatch can be released immediately and live. No habitat damage occurs since the fishing gear does not make contact with the ocean floor.
Ocean Wise recommends species raised with minimal environmental impacts. This sablefish is raised with minimal chemicals and is a native species to local nature. This means that any escapes will not be invasive to the ecosystem, avoiding any competition for resources
